[And Yukiko is there right on time too, pulling in in the mystery wagon and hopping out with a big smile.]

Hey! Thanks for contacting me. I wasn't sure when would be good, since I knew you needed time to recover.

Dude, of course! Recovery was a thing but it did not take as long as I thought. Besides, it's been a couple of weeks and can no longer be an excuse. Ready to head in? I'm actually kind of starving.

Yes, I am.

[She steps up, marching right on in.]

What kind of pie do you want? Have you been here before? Because they do good meat pies as well as sweet ones.

I have never actually been here before, no. [He holds the door open and he follows after her, glancing around the place while pinpointing a menu.] But a meat pie kind of sounds kind of good right now. I've been making a lot of pies and cakes lately.

Well, they have some good ones. [It's the right kind of day for that. She will, in fact, march right up and order a chicken pie.]

They're smaller, individual sized, but they're really filling.

[At least she knows exactly what she wants. He's not surprised by this and he nods in response to her explanation. He looks at the mirror for another moment before ordering a beef pie and a small apple pie to the mixture and paying for everything.]

Whatever I don't eat I'll keep for leftovers then. [Given how he says that though he doesn't anticipate actually having leftovers.] Want to stay in here or outside? The weather is nice enough for either.

[That's nice of him. He shouldn't have...but, okay!]

Let's eat outside. Today is nice and their little veranda thing is nice.

[and this is one of those nice places that brings it to you so she gestures to the outdoor table and heads that way.]

[Off they go and he follows along to let someone bring them their pies while they head outside. He moves toward the table she indicated and has a seat, waiting for her to join him before he leans back in his seat to make himself comfortable.]

The crazy part, I think, is that I went back to class immediately but I have not had a lot of chances just to go out and do other things after being in the forest for a month. It's a nice change of pace.

[She is right behind him, settling in without issue.]

Yeah? No free weekends or something?

Founder's Day was the first weekend we were back and stuff, and last weekend I was celebrating a friend's birthday. I do not mind doing those things, but it does keep me busy. [A pause.] Plus I went a whole month without really seeing my boyfriend so my weekends usually go to him.

Yeah?

[She has not heard this...]

Who's your boyfriend? I missed this information.

[...there's a slight laugh.]

Dave and I have been dating since December. And somehow I kind of thought you knew but uh. Oops?

Ah...nope? I must have missed that!

[She laughs right back.]

I'm glad. You two suit one another!

Kind of like how you and Eleanor suit each other? [There's a slight smirk because yeah. Yeaaaah.]

I...yes? I guess so?

[Yes he is right.]

[A shrug. They can talk about that later though because this is about Yukiko and John, mostly, not Yukiko and her girlfriend and John and his boyfriend.]

But all of that aside I think I missed even more than that. You guys stayed in the city, right? How bad were things here?

Well. Yes, we did. [Which was fine with her.] Things weren't the worst, I guess? Busy. There were some chimera in the subway!

Actual chimera!

What the hell were chimera doing down there? We didn't see anything like that when we were down there in January, just the trains and stuff. Are they still there?

I don't know. To...all of that except whether or not they are there.

They shouldn't be. I kind of killed a lot of them, and I'm pretty sure other people did too.

I almost want to go back and check myself but that also sounds like a bad idea. But that's kind of awesome. [Yukiko killing monsters is a thing that makes sense.] So I am guessing they were the things guarding the mayor and everybody else so once they were killed you could save them. That's pretty...messed up, actually. Like someone purposefully lured people down there.

It is. I don't know if we ever figured out who was behind it, either.

[If they did, Yukiko missed it and so did the mun.]

Hopefully it was a one time thing.

Sounds about right for this place. [Nope, nobody knows. It's a mystery!] I really hope the same, but when have these things ever been a one time thing? The forest wasn't exactly an easy fix either.

That's true...but we haven't been six inches tall again. and this time it was all volunteers and not just people falling into holes in the ocean.

[Someone forgot to unleash the kraken?]

Have I ever mentioned I am so glad I missed being shrunken down that far? Or the ocean sucking me up? That's what makes this weird, why is it volunteer basis now?

[Their pies arrive.] It almost feels like a trap but at the same time...not.

[pies arriving makes Yukiko go right for hers.]
